The CoMA Summer School is a place for musicians of all abilities to come together for five full days of fun and exciting music-making! Filled with experimentation, workshops and performances, the summer school is open to instrumentalists, singers and composers aged 18+. As well as playing or singing in the massed CoMA Ensemble, attendees can choose from workshops and activity sessions with Sarah Nicolls, Supriya Nagarajan, Loré Lixenberg, Sonic Bothy, Elif Karlıdağ, Global Grooves and more.
Workshops & Activities include: - Summer School Ensemble for Vocalists & Instrumentalists - Composing Workshops with Elif Karlıdağ - Simple Melodies Shrouded in Strange Sounds with Sarah Nicolls (electronics workshop) - Exploring Raga with Supriya Nagarajan - Experimental Music Theatre with Loré Lixenberg - Samba Drumming Workshop with Global Grooves - Little Woodland Heights with Francesca Le Lohé (field/nature recording & composition) - Inclusive Music Making with Sonic Bothy Guest conductors: Rebecca Miller & Janet Oates
Throughout the week there will be plenty of opportunities for socialising with the other attendees. There will also be nature activities such as woodland walks, bird watching and an observatory visit.
The accommodation will be on-campus at Keele University and offers each attendee their own private room with en-suite facilities and a small double bed. Three catered meals per day plus tea/coffee and refreshments will be provided. Keele is a peaceful campus university with extensive grounds for walking and relaxation.
