BSC International Summer School is a two-week English language residential programme for international students aged 13–17, hosted at one of the UK’s top independent boarding schools. Set in beautiful, safe parkland on the edge of the market town of Bishop's Stortford, the camp combines high-quality English teaching with creative, sporty, cultural and social experiences designed to help young people grow in confidence, independence and international awareness.
The English language programme at BSC International Summer School is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK and is a member of English UK. All students are tested on their first full day and subsequently placed in classes of no more than 16 students at an appropriate level for their ability. There are classes at all levels from A1 - C2. The lessons are topic-based and are designed to help students develop communication skills, natural English and a range of vocabulary. Materials have been specifically chosen for Teenagers' courses and include authentic resources.
Afternoons: choice of specialised Academies (3 days/week): Intensive English, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Sports Coaching (Football or Tennis), Multi-activity. Additional mixed-zone activities such as swimming, games, shopping trips, or campus sports. Evenings: daily supervised fun events such as discos, film nights, BBQs, talent shows, scavenger hunts, sports tournaments and “Prom Night.” Excursions: 2 half-day trips to Cambridge including open-top bus sightseeing, college visits, museums, and punting. 3 full-day excursions per course to London, Canterbury and Oxford.
Students are accommodated in single and twin study bedrooms with washbasins in a College boarding house on the main campus. Boys and girls are on separate corridors and have their own shared bathrooms. There is a large common room with a piano, table-tennis, TVs for video games and film nights, board games and wifi throughout. There is also a kitchen for storing drinks and snacks and a laundry where the College provides a weekly laundry service for all students included in the course fees. The boarding house is a short walk from the College dining room where students have their 3 daily meals.
