The International Youth Media Summit (IYMS) is a unique annual event bringing together young delegates (filmmakers and diplomats aged 18-35) worldwide. Together, they collaborate on hands-on film production, creating impactful short films addressing global issues. Over the past 19 years, 1,700 participants from more than 80 countries have produced 140 short films, each tackling urgent social problems. The seven recognized global issues addressed each year are Discrimination, Environment, Health, Poverty, Violence, Women’s Rights, and Youth Empowerment.
Some key activities will include: colllaborative film production sessions focusing on the Seven Issues & the Summit theme, workshops on filmmaking, media production, and cultural heritage preservation, panel discussions with global experts on issues such as cultural identity, globalization, and youth empowerment, screenings and exhibitions of films and media projects created by participants, networking sessions to build connections among youth leaders, professionals, and sponsors.
The extracurricular side of the program focuses on a mix of social, cultural, and recreational activities designed to complement the main program content and foster community building. 1. City Tours and Sightseeing: Participants will have the opportunity to explore local cities like Karlovac and Zagreb through guided city tours and free-time activities, offering an immersive experience in Croatian culture and history. 2. Social Events and Parties: There are several social events, including a rooftop party, talent shows, and a film pub quiz, aimed at encouraging interaction among participants and creating a relaxed atmosphere. 3. Excursions: The program includes exciting excursions, such as a day trip to the Croatian coast, allowing participants to enjoy natural beauty while bonding with their peers. 4. Film-Related Fun: Evening events like the "River Cinema" and a talent show offer a creative outlet for participants to showcase their talents and engage in fun, informal film-related activities.
The accommodation provisions for the 20th International Youth Media Summit (IYMS) in Karlovac, Croatia, include a participation fee covering lodging, meals, and various events. There are three room options available: - Triple room: €950 - Double room: €1,030 - Single room: €1,250 This fee includes three meals daily, special diet accommodations, transportation from Zagreb airport to Karlovac and back, excursions, and access to events such as the opening and closing ceremonies, talent show, and dance parties. Additional costs not included in the participation fee are round-trip flights, and passport/visa expenses.
