About this camp
Design in Town helps students aged 14–19 from around the world explore university and career choices through hands-on creative projects, discovering their talents and interests.
The 14th edition runs from 7 June to 18 July 2027. Over 2 or 3 weeks, students explore 4 or 6 creative disciplines, completing real projects alongside experienced professionals.
Through intensive workshops, students discover their strengths, explore creative careers and gain practical skills. Working with professionals and peers from different countries, they build confidence, independence and teamwork. The programme is taught in Italian.
International students need sufficient Italian to participate actively, with English available for additional clarification.
More than a summer camp, Design in Town helps students discover what they enjoy, understand their potential and make informed choices about their future.
- Since its first edition, the Summer Camp has received endorsements from some of Italy’s leading professional associations: ADI, ADCI, AIAP, AI, AIR3 and AFIP, as well as the support of major cultural institutions including Triennale Milano, Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and Fondazione Achille Castiglioni.
- The 2027 Education Partners are IED – Istituto Europeo di Design, USI – Academy of Architecture at Università della Svizzera italiana, and Accademia di Como Aldo Galli – IED Network.

Who you'll be with
Our students come from across Italy, Europe, and other parts of the world, bringing together different cultural and educational backgrounds. Approximately 55% attend scientific, classical, and language-focused high schools, 35% attend art high schools, and 10% come from other types of educational institutions. Academics
Design in Town uses learning by doing to help students explore university pathways and creative careers. Each week, participants work with two professionals, discover two disciplines and complete two real projects in three days each.
Creative Writing and Illustration offer dedicated programmes, allowing students to explore one discipline through different projects and teachers.
Days begin with breakfast at 8:00 am. Workshops run from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Evening work may be required to complete projects.
Students develop independence, teamwork, problem-solving skills and the ability to manage deadlines.
Every Wednesday and Saturday, students present their projects in public exhibitions in the town's main square, sharing their ideas with visitors until midnight.
Sundays are dedicated to rest and relaxation.

A typical day
Every project is completed in just three days. The day begins with breakfast at 8:00 am, followed by workshops from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. After lunch, activities resume at 2:30 pm and continue until 7:00 pm. Students work directly with creative professionals, developing ideas, experimenting with techniques and preparing their final projects. After dinner, additional work may be required to meet deadlines. Life at Design in Town follows simple rules: attend all activities, respect deadlines, care for shared spaces and contribute to the community. This intensive approach helps students experience the responsibilities of creative professions. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, completed projects are exhibited in the town's main square. From 10:00 pm, students present their work to the public, explaining their ideas and creative decisions. Exhibitions close at midnight, when everyone returns to the convent. The next day brings a new discipline, a new professional and a new challenge. Sundays are dedicated to rest, relaxation and shared experiences.
