About this camp

Camp Headington is SBC's adventure camp, held at Headington Rye Prep School in Oxford. It runs a single course, Wild Science, built around science, engineering and the natural world.

Students spend 15+ hours a week on learning that mixes classroom enquiry with outdoor investigation and fieldwork. Each day is organised into four stages — Explore, Examine, Experiment and Summit — after a whole-camp start called Basecamp, and the day ends by bringing the learning together.

English runs through everything: students describe what they observe, work in teams to solve problems and explain their results to the group. Residential and day places are both available, and all meals, evening activities, excursions and adventure activities are included. Students receive a progress report and a certificate at the end.
