About this camp

The International Summer School in Modern Icelandic Language & Culture offers a rich, month-long immersion into the language, history, and heritage of Iceland. Held at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík, the program combines structured classroom learning with hands-on cultural experiences, including museum visits, city tours, and excursions to some of Iceland’s most breathtaking historical and geological sites.

Academics

The program offers 80 hours (on-campus) of Icelandic language and culture instruction, tailored to beginner and intermediate levels, with lessons focused on grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and cultural context—all taught by experienced university instructors.

Excursions

The extracurricular program includes guided city tours, museum visits, and full-day excursions to Iceland’s historic and natural landmarks, offering students the chance to experience the country’s culture, landscape, and heritage beyond the classroom.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation is available for on-campus participants in shared housing with access to kitchen facilities, located in Reykjavík and available from July 1 to August 1; Meals are not provided, but lodgers receive detailed arrival instructions and support.
