The Intensive English Program at Yale offers international students a five-week summer experience designed to strengthen their academic English while exploring U.S. culture. With small classes, engaging elective options, and a diverse international community, students improve their speaking, writing, and listening skills in a supportive, university-level setting. Participants take part in core classes focused on academic reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and enhance their learning through practical electives ranging from TOEFL preparation to video production and American society. The program blends rigorous language instruction with cultural immersion, preparing students for future academic or professional success.
Students participate in intensive weekday classes in academic reading, writing, speaking, and listening, with additional electives to support specific goals like TOEFL preparation, pronunciation, and vocabulary development. Classes are interactive, skills-focused, and designed to reflect real academic settings.
Afternoon electives bring English learning to life through workshops, cultural activities, and real-world topics like business, society, and media. These sessions are interactive and build confidence in everyday communication while deepening cultural awareness.
Residential students live in Yale’s on-campus housing, with access to meals, shared community spaces, and student support services. The experience provides a safe, inclusive environment for cultural and social connection. Accommodation not included in the fee.
